Why This Policy Exists
Every JW Business Websites plan includes free revisions before launch and free monthly support after it. This Fair Usage Policy explains what that covers. It forms part of the Terms & Conditions.
1. What's Always Covered
Under fair usage, the following are included in your plan at no extra cost, both before your site goes live and every month after:
- Updating wording, prices, opening hours, contact details and service lists
- Adding, swapping or removing photos, logos and images you supply
- Adding new services, offers, testimonials, news or seasonal messages to existing pages
- Corrections, spelling fixes and small layout tweaks
- Adding or updating links to your social media, reviews, booking tool, shop or other services (standard linking — see Section 3)
- Help and support with any problem with your website or business email
2. What Fair Usage Means in Practice
Fair usage is about the overall amount and nature of the work, not a strict count of requests. It's designed around what a typical small business needs. As a guide, the following would usually fall outside fair usage:
- A full redesign or rebuild of the site, or a significant change of style or structure
- Adding extra pages beyond those included in your plan
- Very large volumes of changes, such as rewriting most of the site's content in one go, or constant daily updates
- Repeatedly changing the same thing back and forth
- Technical work, such as API connections, custom integrations or new functionality (see Section 3)
- Writing large amounts of brand-new content from scratch, beyond the ordinary updates listed in Section 1
3. Linking to Other Systems
Linking your website to a system you already use — a booking tool, an online shop, a payment link, social media or a review platform — is free as standard. That includes buttons, links and standard embeds provided by the service. More technical work, such as connecting systems through an API or building custom integrations, isn't covered under fair usage and will always be quoted first.
Built-in ecommerce and booking systems are coming soon but aren't available yet. When they launch, their details and pricing will be published before they're offered.
4. If a Request Goes Beyond Fair Usage
If something you ask for falls outside fair usage, here's what happens:
- I'll let you know before starting any work, and explain why
- You'll get a clear price for the work, or we'll talk about ways to achieve what you need within your plan
- The work only goes ahead once you've agreed. You're always free to say no, and your normal monthly support carries on as usual
If a pattern of requests is consistently well beyond fair usage, I'll talk to you about it openly first, so we can agree a sensible way forward together.
5. How to Send Requests
Send changes, issues or additions to support@jwbusinesswebsites.co.uk from one of your business's authorised email addresses. Requests from authorised addresses are linked straight to your account. Requests from any other address need to be confirmed with your business by phone or through an authorised email first, which can delay the update — see Section 6 of the Terms & Conditions.
6. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any significant change will be communicated to clients with an active hosting arrangement directly. Questions about this policy can be sent to legal@jwbusinesswebsites.co.uk.
